The Atlanta Falcons have likely suffered a major setback as Jeff Okudah was carted off from training with a lower-leg injury on Friday morning.
The cornerback is heading into his first season with Atlanta, having joined via a trade from the Detroit Lions earlier this year. Fans will be hoping for good news following this troubling development.
Okudah is battling draft classmate A.J. Terrell for a starting job. Where Friday’s injury leaves him remains to be seen.
The Lions selected Okudah as the No. 3 overall pick in 2020, while Terrell was selected at No. 16. He was traded to the Falcons after three inconsistent years in Detroit.
Okudah, 24, played 15 games for the Lions in 2022, making one interception which he converted into a touchdown. He also set personal records with 73 tackles and seven passes defended.

His fifth-year option has been declined, so the upcoming season will be a crucial one for him. The former Ohio State star is set to earn $3.6 million in 2023.
Should he be unable to start the season for Atlanta, the likes of Dee Alford, Tre Flowers, Cornell Armstrong, Mike Hughes, and Clark Phillips III will all be in contention.
