Jeff Fisher has announced that he will be returning to Nashville for football-related reasons.
The 65-year-old will act as a senior advisor to the Nashville Kats when the Arena Football League launches again in 2024. Fisher claims to have always been a fan of Arena Football, as well as the Kats, in a statement to The Tennessean.
“I have always been a big fan of Arena Football, especially the Nashville Kats when they played here,” he noted. “It is so entertaining with so many talented players and coaches. And in that setting, the fans become so much a part of not only the game, but the overall experience.”
This will mark Fisher’s third stint in Nashville. He was appointed as the head coach of the Houston Oilers in 1995 before the franchise took off to Tennessee and became the Titans. He stuck around until 2010, having coached the team to a Super Boal appearance in 1999.
The former cornerback was hired as an advisor by Eddie George after the latter took over as the head coach at Tennessee State in 2021. George played under Fisher for most of his NFL career.
Of course, one has to wonder how long this association might last.

The case should be the same for the AFL, which has been dormant since the 2019 season. The league kicked off in 1987 before bankruptcy hit in 2008.
It returned two years later before going under again after 10 years
The upcoming season is scheduled to begin on April 27, 2024.
