On Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings found a potential replacement for the injured Kirk Cousins, who is out the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles. The Arizona Cardinals traded Josh Dobbs and a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Vikings in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick.
The Vikings may have filled a glaring hole, but where does that leave the Cardinals?
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said on Tuesday that the team was working to bring in a third quarterback in the wake of trading Josh Dobbs and they did just that as they brought back Jeff Driskel as an insurance policy at quarterback, signing the veteran to their practice squad on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Driskel will presumably be the backup to rookie Clayton Tune this Sunday at Cleveland.
The trade of Dobbs came after it announced he would be benched after head coach Jonathan Gannon reviewed film from the team’s latest loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Driskel last played for the Houston Texans where he appeared in seven games in 2022. The 30-year-old completed 78% of his passes for 108 yards and a touchdown.

Tune is likely to play in the next game while Kyler Murray waits at least one more week before making his 2023 debut.
