NFL defenses have had a tough time stopping Tony Pollard in recent weeks. The Dallas Cowboys running back entered Thursday’s game with over 80 yards and over 5.0 yards per carry in each of his last four contests.
Not wanting to be the latest victim of the 25-year-old former fourth-round pick, the New York Giants were doing everything in their power to slow down Pollard on Thanksgiving Day…
Even if that meant delivering a flying elbow off the top ropes on the speedy back.
During one of Pollard’s 18 rushing attempts on the evening, former Cowboy and current New York Giants linebacker Jaylon Smith could be seen delivering a flying elbow on his former teammate.
While the Giants were successful in slowing down Pollard, limiting him to 60 yards on 18 carries for an average of 3.3 yards per carry, they weren’t able to slow down the Dallas offense as a whole.
The Cowboys finished with 169 total yards on the ground and another 261 yards through the air during their 28-20 win. With that win, Dallas improves to 8-3 on the season, one game clear of the Giants for second-place in the NFC East, and just one win back of the Eagles for top spot (with the Eagles still to play their week 12 contest against the Packers).
