LSU Tigers quarterback and projected top-three draft pick Jayden Daniels has responded to rumors that his camp doesn’t want him to be drafted by the New England Patriots.
The Patriots hold the No. 3 selection in April’s 2024 NFL Draft. Most analysts are projecting that Daniels, USC’s Caleb Williams and North Carolina’s Drake Maye will be the top-three selections, with Williams most likely going to the Chicago Bears at No. 1 overall.
Daniels took to X/Twitter and responded to the rumor using a “cap” emoji. For those unfamiliar, the cap emoji is slang for a lie.
Earlier this week, Phil A. Perry of NBC Sports Boston reported that some in Daniels’ camp are hoping that he won’t go to New England. Apparently, those in the camp are worried about Daniels having to transfer over to a colder climate in Foxborough.
Unless they trade the pick, the Bears will deal starting quarterback Justin Fields and surely take Williams with the No. 1 pick. The Washington Commanders, who hold the No. 2 selection, will then get to choose between Maye or the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner.
