The Denver Broncos did exactly what people thought they would when it was announced that Ja’Wuan James sustained an Achilles tear while working out away from the Broncos’ facilities, as part of a team-wide sitting out of voluntary workouts due to a lack of COVID-19 protocols.
He was cut on Friday and put on the non-football injury list with the intention to not pay him his $10 million salary for the season.
James would soon take to social media and call out the NFLPA:
“If (you’re) gonna advise all of us,” he wrote, “we need you to have our backs on the other end of this.”
James ended up playing only three games for the Broncos over the course of the four-year, $51 million contract he signed with the team in 2019.

A grievance from James is likely to come in response.
James’ contract situation might not be resolved anytime soon. The NFLPA will likely file a grievance on the tackle’s behalf and James’ salary will be in limbo until a resolution is reached.
