A number of Super Bowl contenders are looking to retool and strengthen their roster ahead of the playoffs, so we could see some signings take place in the coming days.
One of the players expected to attract attention is James Washington. The wide receiver was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday following two appearances on the back of a one-year deal signed in March last year.
According to a source cited by MLFootball, Washington is expected to be a subject of interest for contenders, with all options currently open, including a possible return to Dallas.
Washington Struggled With Injury All Year
The 26-year-old spent most of last summer in a walking boot and missed offseason training. He sustained a foot injury on the first day of training camp, which resulted in surgery and inclusion on the IR.
Washington didn’t play for the Cowboys until December 11, when they faced the Houston Texans. His one target resulted in a dropped pass.
The Cowboys were admirers of the WR when he was coming out of Oklahoma State in 2015 but he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round and spent four years there before entering free agency and then joining them on a one-year contract worth $1.035 million.
