Jameis Winston has made his free agency decision.
The Browns are hoping for a healthy season from Deshaun Watson in 2024, but that did not stop the front office from pursuing a top-end backup after they lost out on Jacoby Brissett.
On Tuesday, the team went out and signed veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a one-year deal.
Winston has said he intends to search for a team where he can compete to start, but the Browns are paying Watson a ton of guaranteed money to be their future so he won’t be fighting for a job there.
However, Watson is prone to having injuries so he could see himself playing a few games and possibly even starting.

He has spent the last four seasons with the New Orleans Saints and saw action in seven games in 2023 while serving as the backup to Derek Carr. Winston threw for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions in his limited time on the field.
With Watson presumably returning to full health next season, the Browns are hoping to emerge as a top contender in the AFC.
