Jameis Winston wants nothing more than to prove himself and be a starting quarterback in the NFL again. He has a chance to be that with the QB competition with the New Orleans Saints.
On Tuesday, Winston dropped footage of him working on securing the football, which has been an issue with him since he’s been in the league. His facial expressions were hilarious, but many took notice of how slim Winston was in the video.
The Saints concentrated on weight-room and conditioning work in their offseason time with the players and it has clearly worked for Winston.
Winston had spent the previous five seasons as the starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led the NFL with 5,109 passing yards in 2019, but he also threw 30 interceptions. A free agent last offseason, Winston lost his job with the Bucs when they signed Tom Brady in free agency. Winston then came to the Saints for the opportunity to work with Brees, and he threw only 12 passes in five games, including a touchdown toss in his first postseason appearance.
New Orleans re-signed Winston this offseason.

“I’ve learned things I can apply to add to my game now, and I’ve learned some things that I don’t need to apply,” Winston said. “… Not doing the things that you should not do instead of just doing the things that you should do, because being an NFL quarterback, everybody can get back there and throw the ball. But being able to make the decisions that ‘We cannot do this’ goes into if you are going to be a great quarterback or average.”
