Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase provided the Browns with some bulletin board material this week when he called them “elves” while saying the upcoming game wasn’t that important to him.
It should’ve been important because the Browns destroyed them 24-3 and they’ve now won nine of their last 11 games against Cincinnati.
The Browns and Bengals don’t need any extra motivation but it’s nice when the trash talk gets used to dish out some punishment. The Cleveland Browns defense led by Myles Garrett provided a thorough response, shutting down Joe Burrow and the Bengals’ offense for an early divisional win.
Unfortunately, it did not stop Chase from talking as he continued calling them elves after the game.
“I’m just frustrated because I called their ass elves and we just lost to some elves, so I’m pissed on my part,” Chase said. “Like I said, we had missed opportunities and we didn’t capitalize on that s–t and that’s how we lost.”

Chase is making reference to the Browns’ mascot, Brownie the Elf.
Cincinnati posted an unfathomably bad 142 yards of total offense in their 24-3 loss. Joe Burrow was just 14-of-31 passing for 82 yards and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase logged only 39 receiving yards on five catches.
It was not the game the franchise was expected to have after signing Burrow to a massive deal.
The Baltimore Ravens are coming to Cincinnati next Sunday, and the Bengals surely do not want to start the year 0-2.
