Justin Reid has opened up his mouth and now he has to deliver on what he has said.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ safety caught the attention of a few Bengals players with his comments about Hayden Hurst on Wednesday. Reid confused Hurst for Tee Higgins in the below clip.
Reid — who signed with K.C. this offseason — told reporters that he is hoping to be the difference in this head-to-head Sunday. He was speaking on the Chiefs loss to the Bengals in the postseason back in January.
“They have 88 — Higbee. No, it’s not. Higbee was with the Rams,” Reid said to reporters. “What’s his name? Higgins. It is Higgins. Higbee and Higgins. They are going to have him back. He’s a very talented receiver. More of a finesse type of guy. Not the best blocker. I’m going to lock him down. Straight up.”
“Tbh, I meant Hayden Hurst* for the man matchups,” Reid tweeted in response to the video. “Nonetheless, any and everybody still getting locked up.”

Bengals players like DJ Reader and Ja’Marr Chase quickly took to Twitter and it led to a very spicy exchange. Ja’Marr Chase, who is eyeing a return to action this week after missing time due to a hip injury, responded to Reid’s tweet with “let’s put some money on it big time” coupled with an eyes emoji.
Reid then replied, “Y’all welcome for the extra motivation. Ima see you Sunday champ.”
In 11 starts for the Chiefs this season, Reid is allowing career-highs in completion percentage and passer rating. The 25-year-old has given up 317 yards on 27 catches allowed, recording 52 tackles with two pass defenses.
On the season, Chase has totaled 605 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 47 catches.
