Much like Kwame Brown had to do with his critics, JaMarcus Russell is finally fighting back against all the people who’ve had multiple things to say about him since he flamed out of the NFL.
The former No. 1 overall draft pick, who was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl and won a BCS National Championship, recently sat down and spoke with Channing Crowder, Fred Taylor, and Ryan Clark on The Pivot Podcast.
He revealed how much his off-the-field issues had him turning to ‘purple drank’ to cope with his problems. He also had to clear something up in regards to a story that was told about him by 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne.
Back in 2016, both rappers appeared on Highly Questionable, with 2 Chainz saying Russell used to carry around “a book bag full of lean, a codeine-spiked mixed drink.” They also spoke on how they partied with him prior to football games.
“He come passing out the …,” 2 Chainz said.
Added Wayne: “He talking ’bout JaMarcus Russell.”

In response, Russell said:
“I never hung out the night before no game, ever,” Russell said. “Period.”
“He was speaking on some shit he saw,” Russell said. “Not some shit that happened between he and I. And I didn’t appreciate that at all.”
Russell went 7-18 in three seasons in the league and his weight ballooned to well over 300 pounds before a failed comeback attempt.
