Jamal Adams was not a happy camper on Tuesday after several reports suggested that he wanted to be traded, throwing general manager Joe Douglas under the bus when he stated he went behind his back and “shopped” him around the league after he had pledged his commitment to Gang Green in meetings with the front office last week.
“Any reports of me asking to be traded from the New York Jets are completely false,” Adams tweeted just after general manager Joe Douglas spoke with the media Tuesday. “At the end of the week last week, I sat down with the GM and Coach [Adam] Gase and told them I want to be here in New York.
“I was told (Monday) by my agent that the GM then went behind my back and shopped me around to teams, even after I asked him to keep me here! Crazy business.”
The following day, Adams spoke to reporters and he suggested he was on the level of the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Donald because their teams would never field any trade calls about them.
“The Rams don’t take calls on Aaron Donald. The Patriots don’t take calls on Tom Brady. I hold myself in that regard.”
