Current Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams has just gained a ton of fans over one interview.
Williams is in his first season with the Lions after playing the first four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, who opted to not re-sign Williams in free agency this past offseason.
“They didn’t want me like that ex-girlfriend, shoot, I got to go,” Williams jokingly said. “Good thing I got a rebound. It was the Lions. They picked me up, you know what I mean. Now they feeding me good. Taking me to dinners, you know what I mean. Another man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
“I’m just having fun, man. It’s part of life. You know, you’re going to have those type of rejections,” Williams continued. “You’re going to get turned down. You’re going to get, you know, people ain’t going to want you, but when you get your shot and opportunity again from somebody who will give you your shot, you know you just got to take that opportunity, be grateful for it and make it count.”
Williams was selected by the Packers during the fourth round with the 134th overall pick in 2017 NFL Draft.
During his four years with Green Bay, he ran for 1,985 yards and 10 touchdowns on 500 carries. Williams also had 122 receptions for 961 yards and eight touchdowns.
