Miami Dolphins’ cornerback Jalen Ramsey will be out indefinitely as he prepares to undergo surgery on a meniscus injury.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ramsey suffered the injury during Thursday’s practice and will require surgery. Though his ACL “is intact”, per Schefter, Ramsey is likely to miss the beginning of the season.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo added that it’s a meniscus injury for the future Hall of Famer. Garofolo stated that Ramsey may miss approximately six weeks, though they’ll have a better idea after the procedure.

The first NFL regular season game of 2023 is six weeks from today, with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs set to host the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium. Miami’s season opener will be a road contest against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 10.
In March, Miami acquired Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for tight end Hunter Long and a third-round draft choice. Ramsey was a key cog of the Rams’ club that won Super Bowl 56 in the 2021 season.
The 28-year-old Ramsey was drafted fifth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. The Florida State product has earned six Pro Bowl nods as well as a trio of First-team All-Pro selections (2017, 2020 and 2021).
Miami is coming off a third straight winning season (9-8) as well as their first playoff appearance since 2016. They’ll aim to qualify for the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time since 2000 and 2001.
