If it makes the San Francisco 49ers feel any better, they weren’t the only previously undefeated team to see their bid at a perfect season end in stunning fashion on Sunday.
Just a few hours after the 49ers were upset 19-17 by the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon, Jalen Hurts and his Philadelphia Eagles were stunned 20-14 by the Aaron Rodgers-less New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
Leading 14-12 late in the fourth quarter, the Eagles were a first down away from icing the game. But on a third-and-seven play, Hurts was intercepted by Tony Adams, who nearly took it to the house. Breece Hall punched it in from the Philly eight, and the Jets’ D held on for a stunning victory.
