Several NFL teams are going to forever regret letting Jalen Carter pass them in the draft and allowing the Philadelphia Eagles, who were fresh off a Super Bowl appearance, to snag him up.
Carter didn’t need to prove why he was a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft. He simply let his actions do it.
On his first NFL snap, Carter easily moved past Ben Cleveland and got to Josh Johnson, which forced the Baltimore Ravens quarterback out of the pocket. Johnson got the ball away as Carter was bringing him down, getting the Philadelphia Eagles defense off the field.
It was scary how quickly he made his move.
One play, one quarterback hit. Not a bad preseason debut.

“I’ve been playing football all my life, so you know it’s been a moment I’ve just been waiting for,” Carter said. “I was just doing my normal thing rushing, and I felt the guard’s presence to my left heavy and I made an inside move.”
“Thought that was pretty awesome. I plan on doing that more.”
Carter was only in for two snaps in Saturday’s 20-19 loss to the Ravens, but the Eagles saw the impact he makes when he’s on the field.
The Eagles traded up to draft Carter for a reason, and he is showing them why they made a great decision. Ravens right guard Ben Cleveland was a teammate at Georgia when Carter was a freshman, so Carter clearly knew what to do to get past him.
If he can do these types of things every Sunday, the Eagles’ defense is not going to be fair. A promising start for Carter in what looks to be a bright future in Philadelphia.
His only issue is off-the-field stuff at Georgia regarding racing that led to the death of a teammate. Carter pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge and got a sentence of a year’s probation. He also got 80 hours of community service, a driving class, and a $1K fine.
His final season with Georgia as a junior saw him earn plenty of honors. Carter was a unanimous First-Team All-American and First-Team All-SEC. In total, he had 83 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks with the Bulldogs.
