2023 first-round pick Jalen Carter has yet to play an NFL game for the Philadelphia Eagles, but he is starting to grow his legend already on the practice field.
Defensive lineman Jalen Carter was the first name off of the board for a ton of Georgia Bulldogs that would hear their name on draft night. Carter was considered by many to be the best player in this year’s draft class, which means there will be a lot of eyes on him to see how he performs as a rookie.
The former college football standout is getting into form to be an early contributor for his new team, and it’s off to a great start after the incoming rookie reportedly broke a blocking sled during the first weekend of training camp.
Eagles insider Dave Spadaro dropped the news recently on the “Philly Talk Podcast.”
Listed at 6-foot-3, 300-pounds, it shouldn’t be a shock that Carter is strong, but completely destroying a piece of equipment is outrageous.

“If he puts it all together, he has a chance to be a really, really great football player,” Spadaro said.
The 22-year-old basically fell to the Eagles at No. 9 in April’s NFL Draft due to off-the-field issues surrounding a January car crash which led to the deaths of University of Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler Lecroy.
Carter was allegedly in an SUV on a suspended license while racing another vehicle that was occupied by Lecroy and Willock before the fatal accident. He would plead no contest, receiving 12 months of probation, 80 hours of community service, and a fine of $1,000.
Carter is among the defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Willock’s father in May. He is seeking $40 million in damages, including $10 million from Carter.
He does not face any punishment from the NFL since the incident happened before he was drafted.
