If Jake Fromm had dreams of showing teams that he was a starting caliber QB in the NFL, he failed miserably on Sunday.
Fromm’s first NFL start with the New York Giants was “not ideal.”
Fromm completed only six of 17 passes for 25 yards with no touchdowns and one interception and was benched in the third quarter.
After the loss, Fromm had a blunt response about his first career start.
“I don’t think it gets much worse than that,” he said.
“I would say it’s not ideal,” Fromm said. “I wish I would have played better. It’s frustrating for myself. It’s not the way I wanted to have represented myself, my family, or, of course, this organization. It’s tough, but I’m going to learn from it. I don’t think it gets much worse than that. … I’m going to grind. I’m going to work my tail off to get better and play better like I know I can. I’m going to give everything I can to the guys on offense, to this team, and be the best me I can be from here on out.”

Fromm, signed off the Buffalo Bills practice squad just over three weeks ago, was benched in the third quarter in favor of Mike Glennon.
“I just got told by the quarterbacks coach that they were going to switch it up and put [Giants QB] Mike [Glennon] in there,” Fromm said. “I wish nobody — any of the coaches — would have been put in that situation. I wish I would have gone out and handled my business, led us to victory, and we’d be having a nice ride home.”
His performance puts into question the starter for next Sunday when the Giants play the Bears.
Glennon wasn’t much better in relief as he finished with 93 yards and a touchdown pass, but also threw a pick-six.
The loss dropped the Giants to 4-11 overall.
