During Sunday’s rivalry matchup between the Packers and Bears, Chicago wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown made his presence known when he got loose for a 56-yard catch. It happened after he beat Green Bay corner Jaire Alexander.
Multiple deep bombs came at the expense of the NFL’s highest-paid corner in Alexander.
By the end of the game, Alexander would get the last laugh by cutting in front of St. Brown for a game-sealing interception. However, that wasn’t good enough for him as the corner had some harsh words about St. Brown.
Alexander said he was never worried about covering the Bears’ “scrub.”
“Nothing. Man, he a scrub. I can’t believe I let him catch that on me. But hat’s off to him because he did make a good catch,” Alexander said, via The Athletics Matt Schneidman.

24 hours later, St. Brown stated that Jaire Alexander has apologized for his comments.
Via The Chicago Tribunes Colleen Kane:
“Bears WR Equanimeous St. Brown said Packers CB Jaire Alexander texted him to apologize for his postgame comments, which included calling St. Brown “a scrub.” “It was probably heat of the moment for him,” St. Brown said. “I don’t take anything personal. It is what it is.”
There appears to be no bad blood between Alexander and St. Brown, with the veteran cornerback reaching out to the wide receiver. These two teams are done playing each other this year, but those words could come back up in 2023.
The victory in Chicago snapped a two-game losing streak and improved the Packers’ record to 5-8 through 13 games. They kept their very slim playoff hopes alive.
