The NFL trade market is kicking into high gear just ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, and teams continue to monitor others to try and get better.
A team like the Jacksonville Jaguars are falling quickly in the standings after a hot star in the AFC South, and teams are reaching out about a standout pass rusher on the team. Jaguars pass rusher Josh Allen is a “name that has garnered interest” with the NFL trade deadline less than a week away, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The 25-year-old was the Jaguars’ first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and earned Pro Bowl honors as a rookie after finishing his first season with 10.5 sacks. The following two seasons saw Allen rack up 10 sacks.
During the 2022 campaign, he has put up three sacks and is top 10 in the league in quarterback hits with 11. The Jaguars picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, so he’s under contract through next season, which carries an $11.5 million salary.
Just a few days ago, the franchise traded away third-year running back James Robinson to the New York Jets for a sixth-round pick that has a chance at becoming a fifth-rounder.
Should the team actually trade away Allen, then it would be a signal that the Jags are throwing in the towel for the 2022 season.
