Jihad Ward respects the refs. Even when they’re throwing flags and calling penalties on him.
During the Jacksonville Jaguars’ game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, the defensive lineman could be seen staring at referee Adrian Hill as the head official announced his roughing the passer penalty to the crowd at Gilette Stadium.
“Personal foul, roughing the passer…No. 6…defense.”
After calling a penalty on a player, the last thing a referee expects is for the player to hang around for a polite handshake immediately after. But that’s exactly what Ward did, as No. 6 was right there with a peace offering for Hill.
That’s an interesting tactic from Ward. Will killing with kindness work? Did Ward just earn himself and the Jags a few extra calls in the second half? It’s worth a shot.
