It’s safe to say that Jaguars players are excited about their new head coach and happy the old one is long gone.
Doug Pederson is entering his first season as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he’s already doing something right by not being like Meyer.
Josh Allen experienced the Urban Meyer experiment in Jacksonville last season, and it’s safe to say the former Kentucky star linebacker wasn’t impressed. Asked about the difference between the 2 coaches, Allen laughed and then said Pederson talks to Jaguars players like they’re grown men.
“Man, it feels good to be [laugh] to be a part of a professional locker room,” Allen told the media. “Not only in the locker room, but when you talk to coaches it’s a professional setting.”
“You gotta hold on to the details,” Allen continued. “If you’re not listening to the details, it’s not [someone] getting on you, it’s telling [you] what’s right and what’s wrong.
“[Pederson] puts it a way we can understand it and grow. He’s not getting on us. He’s letting us know what’s real. And he’s talking to us like grown men.”

Later in the session, Josh Allen was asked, “Do you sense them [his teammates] as energized as you are about Doug Pederson versus last year, kind of the way things were going?”
The team finished with the worst record in football in 2021, so taking a step forward from that will be important in Pederson’s first year at the helm of the squad.
