Jimmy Smith is thrilled the Jacksonville Jaguars is looking to potentially sign Tim Tebow rather than Colin Kaepernick.
The Jacksonville Jags legendary WR, who played for the Jags from 1995 through 2005, told TMZ Sports this week that he’s concerned Kaepernick would “divide our locker room.”
“We need a guy like Tim Tebow, who’s a hometown hero who has love for the city anyway,” Smith said.
Urban Meyer and the Jags have been heavily criticized on social media over the move and it has led to Colin Kaepernick’s name to trend for the past few days because of it.
Current and former players like Eric Dickerson and Dez Bryant have questioned the move as to why Tebow could get another shot after such a long layoff, while that very reason has been used against Colin Kaepernick.
“He’s going to be a great support for Trevor Lawrence,” Smith said of Tebow. “Whatever capacity that is, it’s going to be a positive rather than a negative.”

Smith continued, “I pray that he makes the 53-man roster, because we need all we can get.”
