Jadeveon Clowney has been underwhelmed by his offers this offseason, hoping there would be at least one team that would give him $20 million per year. Nobody reportedly came close to that number, so he had no choice but to lower it.
That’s what happened on Wednesday when ESPN’s Dianni Russini said the defensive end moved his asking price closer to $17-$18 million a year. She adds the Seahawks are also still interested.
Many think Clowney might go for a 1-year deal and then hit the market in 2021 to see if his prices change. That is extremely risky for a person with the injury history that he has. The Houston Texans franchised tagged Clowney in 2019 before trading him to the Seahawks at the start of the regular season.
The 27-year-old Clowney recorded 31 tackles, three sacks, an interception, two defensive touchdowns, four forced fumbles, two recoveries and three pass defenses in 2019.
