The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived a former CFL star quarterback ahead of Sunday night’s pivotal clash with the Baltimore Ravens.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jaguars waived quarterback Nathan Rourk, and wide receiver Jamal Agnew was activated from the injured reserve.
The 25-year-old Ohio product had a superb sophomore year for the BC Lions in 2022, winning Most Outstanding Canadian honors. Rourke was also a two-time winner of the Jon Cornish Trophy (2017 and 2018), handed annually to the top Canadian NCAA football player.
Rourke signed with the Jaguars earlier this year. He’s been waived and then brought back on multiple occasions, so there’s a chance that Doug Pederson and company will re-sign Rourke again in the coming weeks.
Veteran journeyman C.J. Beathard remains the No. 2 quarterback behind superstar Trevor Lawrence. With 30 career games under his belt, Beathard was never going to lose his QB2 job to Rourke, who has yet to attempt a single pass attempt in the NFL.
