Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk played a monumental role in helping his team defeat the Tennessee Titans to clinch the AFC South division title.
If that wasn’t awesome enough to begin with, Kirk won himself a lucrative $1 million in incentives by hitting two special marks. Via ESPN’s Field Yates, Kirk earned $500,000 after recording his 80th catch of the season, and another $500,000 for surpassing 1,100 receiving yards on the season.
In the offseason, the Jaguars handed Kirk a massive four-year contract worth $72 million. The move was widely panned at first, since Kirk had never posted 1,000 yards in a single season. But GM Trent Baalke and head coach Doug Pederson obviously knew what they were doing from day one.
The 26-year-old Kirk had the best season of his career, recording 84 receptions for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns. All of those mark career-highs for the former Arizona Cardinal.
The 20-16 win over Tennessee helped Jacksonville end a five-year playoff drought. After losing four of their first 12 games, the Jaguars rallied for five straight W’s to clinch the AFC South division title.
Jacksonville will host either the Los Angeles Chargers or the Baltimore Ravens on Super Wild Card Weekend next week
