Jackson Mahomes will no longer be attending court this month as the judge presiding over his case has contracted COVID-19, per The Kansas City Star.
Jackson, who is the younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested and charged back in May after being accused of forcibly kissing a woman in the back office of her Kansas restaurant a few days after the Super Bowl.
Video footage seems to verify her claims.
The TikTok star was hit with three felony counts of aggravated assault and one misdemeanor count of battery. He was due to appear in court this Thursday, however, the preliminary hearing has been postponed until October 24 as Johnson County District Court Judge Thomas Sutherland said during a scheduling conference on Zoom that he isn’t sure he will be okay to work by Thursday as he has COVID-19.
Mahomes pleaded not guilty to the charges and maintains his innocence. But the prosecution is expected to produce its case while witness testimony could also be heard.
Jackson remains free on a $100,000 bond.
