The rivalry between the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans might not be one of the biggest in the eyes of the rest of the league, but it is certainly huge to both fan bases as they will forever be connected.
Technically, the Oilers team history, especially the uniforms, are part of the Tennessee Titans franchise, even though the team came from Houston.
The city of Houston would eventually get a football team in the Texans, but they would have none of the history from the other franchise. What adds more fuel to the fire is the fact that Oilers legend Earl Campbell has his name planted in Tennessee’s Ring of Honor, even though he never technically played for the team when they moved.
Fast forward to the Texans defeating the Cleveland Browns in Week 13 for their ninth consecutive win in 2018. JJ Watt came out to the post-game press conference draped in a Oilers throwback Earl Campbell jersey.
Then-rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson also got in on the fun when he sported a Warren Moon jersey in 2017.

Last week, the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year commented on a post from the league’s official Instagram account that was wishing him a Happy Birthday.
Watt made this request:
Thank you NFL. I’ll check the mail for my present. (Gift idea hint: Get the Titans to give us the rights to the Houston Oilers throwback uniforms)
The Oilers relocated in 1997 and later changed the franchise’s name.
