For the second time this season, the NFL has hit Steelers running back Jaylen Warren with a massive fine.
The NFL announced that Warren was fined $48,556 for a hit on Rams pass rusher Michael Hoecht during Sunday’s game. Warren was in pass protection and Hoecht was rushing, and Warren ducked his head to hit Hoecht. The hit was so un noteworthy that the ref didn’t even flag it because it was a typical hit.
Many NFL players consider the league’s disciplinary process arbitrary and unfair, and fines like the ones Warren has received reinforce that belief.
JJ Watt certainly did not like it.
Watt responded to the clip with a sharp message to the league for stealing his money.
“This is literally stealing money from a guy,” Watt said. “I mean what are we doing here? I don’t care how much money you make, $48,556 is a LOT of money (it’s Jaylen Warren’s entire game check) and we’re taking it away from him for this? Really? This is horrendous.”

Warren is an undrafted free agent playing his second season on a $870,000 contract and he makes approximately $51,000 per game
The league also took another game check as he was fined $48,333 for lowering his helmet when initiating contact against a Cleveland Browns defender in Week 2.
Warren’s fines are causing both fans and players to debate the NFL’s rules on distributing fines to the athletes.
