Kealia Ohai was traded from the Houston Dash to the Chicago Red Stars on Monday after six seasons with the team. many people in Houston thought JJ Watt would be upset about this news as he is engaged to Ohai.
Watt was actually more upset with how some in the media framed the entire story.
Local news station ABC 13 in Houston sent out a tweet announcing the news with the phrasing: “Houston Dash trade J.J. Watt’s fiancee to Chicago.”
The tweet was blasted by many others for not even mentioning Ohai in the headline, but it was Watt who truly put them on blast by calling their headline “trash.”
ABC 13 was likely going for an SEO play, because Watt is such a highly searched athlete and his fiance is not as well known.
ABC 13’s headline currently reads, “Houston Dash star Kealia Ohai traded to Chicago.”

As far as the trade goes, Ohai was the second overall pick in the 2014 NWSL Draft and was a very good player for the Dash. She owns the club record for goals scored (28).
“I want to thank the entire Houston organization and the wonderful fans for my last 6 years as a Dash player,” Ohai said in a video posted to Twitter. “I have created lasting friendships and Houston will always be my home. I’m excited for a new opportunity with Chicago and to become the best player I can be.”
