Isiah Pacheco really wanted to play in the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs’ running back played Super Bowl LVII with a broken hand and a torn labrum, according to USA Today. Pacheco had two separate surgeries to repair injuries that he gutted out during the Super Bowl.
As you may remember, Pacheco had 15 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown with 32 total snaps during the game on both offense and special teams. That is a gritty performance for a person dealing with those types of injuries.
Pacheco broke a bone located between the wrist and thumb in one of his hands. Dr. Mike Guss, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hands and wrists, performed the surgery to repair the broken bone in the week following the team’s Super Bowl win.
Pacheco was in New York two weeks after the Super Bowl to have his torn labrum repaired by Dr. David Altchek, a world-renowned orthopedist.
The 251st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pacheco, who took over for former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the starting lineup seven games into the season, had a remarkable season as a result of his performance.

Including the playoffs, Pacheco rushed for 1,027 yards and six touchdowns on 207 carries last season. The Chiefs went 13-1 last season with Pacheco in the starting lineup.
It’s pretty remarkable that Pacheco managed to play through both of these injuries in the Super Bowl, especially given his punishing running style.
He is a huge part of this team and why they were able to do what they did even when they had to trade Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins last offseason. The Chiefs will hope to have 100% healthy and ready to help them possibly go back-to-back.
