The Philadelphia Eagles have signed a player who won’t be able to suit up for them this year as he’s been suspended for the entire 2023 NFL season.
The reigning NFC champions announced the signing of cornerback Isaiah Rodgers this week and have since placed him on the reserve/suspended list given that he’s ineligible to appear in games next season after violating the league’s gambling policy.
Rodgers was released by the Indianapolis Colts after being banned for placing over 100 bets for friends in Florida. Sports betting remains illegal in the state.
There was also a $,1000 prop bet that involved one of his Indy teammates.
“I know I have made mistakes and I am willing to do whatever it takes to repair the situation,” Rodgers wrote as part of an apology. “It’s an honor to play in the NFL and I have never taken that lightly.”
The CB made four fumble recoveries and returned 18 kickoffs for 452 yards last season, having made 10 appearances for the Colts. He’s one of several players who have been suspended by the NFL this offseason.

Rodgers can apply for reinstatement after the 2023 season and can count himself very fortunate to have found a new team this soon.
