On Thursday afternoon, the NFL handed down more suspensions to players for gambling violations.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, free agent Demetrius Taylor and ex-Indianapolis Colts Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry were suspended for at least the entirety of the upcoming 2023 season for violating the league’s policy on gambling.
The Colts waived both Rodgers and Berry following the news of their suspensions.
In an update, ESPN’s David Purdum reports that one of Rodgers’ bets included a $1,000 prop bet for the over/under rushing yards total of an unnamed Colts’ running back.
Per Schefter, the NFL also handed Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere a six-game suspension for gambling in a violations below. In a statement (which you can read below), Petit-Frere claimed that he did not bet on the NFL.

The Colts drafted Rodgers in the sixth round (211th overall) back in 2020. The UMass product showed promise in his rookie year as a special teams return player, earning PFWA All-Rookie Team honors.
In three years as a Colt, Rodgers recorded 1,645 kick return yards (including a career-high 692 in his rookie year) and a touchdown. On defense, Rodgers appeared in 45 games as a cornerback and tallied three interceptions and 10 pass defenses.
Berry signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He appeared in three games that year and landed with the Detroit Lions in 2021 after being waived. The Colts signed the Ohio State product to their roster late in the 2022 season, though he never appeared in a game for the club.
