No matter how bright the sun might be, it has to set at some point. This holds true for the NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers as well. Aaron Rodgers has undoubtedly been one of the legends of the NFL. Having won the championship back in 2011, his antics with the Green Bay Packers has been immaculate. Unfortunately, as the years rolled on, Rodgers also showed signs of his age making an impact.
After Rodgers joined the New York Jets, the expectations were quite high. He was once again expected to be the messiah for the New York fans. But the reality turned out to be quite contrasting. Making his debut against the Buffalo Bills last year, Rodgers only lasted four snaps. And as the Jets succumbed to yet another crushing loss in the NFL, the retirement rumors soon took a front seat.
Will Aaron Rodgers Retire This Season?
The New York Jets have been in a downward slump. After losing to the Bills on October 15, the Jets succumbed to another defeat against the Steelers on Monday. Amidst all the gloomy clouds surrounding the Jets, Aaron Rodgers’s retirement is right at the helm. With a significantly deteriorating form, the rumors have received a substantial push from a Jets Insider, ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
Speaking on the recent episode of ‘Flight Deck With Rich Cimini,’ the insider reflected on Rodgers’ prospects for the upcoming season. And no awards for guessing that the updates were not at all exciting. This could well be the last season of Aaron Rodgers as an iconic NFL QB.
“He’s just not playing well, I think his body is beat up, I think if the Jets miss the playoffs, which it certainly appears they will, the Jets will start over next year. I’m not basing that on anything Rodgers told me or anyone in his circle told me. I just think this is probably going to be his final season,” Cimini stated.
Now, nothing official has come from Rodgers yet, but the writing is pretty much on the wall. Add to that the star QB’s woes with his body. Suffering from a gruesome Achilles injury prevented Rodgers from coming out all guns blazing this season. To make matters worse, Rodgers has reportedly suffered a hamstring injury. And this bit of news was confirmed by none other than the head coach of the Jets, Jeff Ulbrich. Sadly, it is not only Rich Cimini that has spoken negatively. ESPN Radio host Chris Canty, too, has a serious allegation to make.

Chris Canty Calls Aaron Rodgers A ‘Cancer’
Chris Canty recently stated that Aaron Rodgers might be the biggest reason for the Jets’ recent downfall. In fact, the ESPN Radio host also went on to call the Jets’ QB a ‘cancer’. Speaking on the Unsportsmanlike Radio, Canty said that Rodgers was a toxic influence amidst the younger bunch of players.
He stated, “I had no idea that it would be this bad. This guy is like a cancer that has metastasized within the New York Jets organization, and I don’t know how they fix it.” Thus, with things starting to get haywire for Aaron Rodgers, it remains to be seen how the Jets will deal with the tricky situation in the future.
