Zach Wilson’s job as the starting quarterback for the New York Jets appears to be secure.
Wilson did not expect to be a starter after the team traded for veteran QB Aaron Rodgers during the offseason but resumed his role as the main man on the second drive of the current campaign as Rodgers tore his Achilles four plays into his debut for the team.
To be fair, he hasn’t done that badly but did come up short in the Jets’ last game as they lost to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night.
The team could bring another veteran in as there are still a few free agents out there after the Rams picked Carson Wentz up this week. Wilson, though, remains the team’s starter and a theory has surfaced as to why that is.
The NFL Notifications X account reports a source has pointed out that Wilson’s job is not in danger because of his uncle. David Neeleman, the man who founded JetBlue Airlines, is good friends with Jets owner Woody Johnson and JetBlue happens to be the Jets official airline.
Neeleman is no longer with the company yet maintains a great relationship with Johnson.

Meanwhile, head coach Robert Saleh was asked recently whether the top brass in NY has mandated that Wilson start. He said that everyone was on the same page as to who the starter should be.
