History is on the side of the Kansas City Chiefs as they prepare for their Super Bowl 57 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in 10 days.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs will be wearing their white jerseys in Super Bowl 57, while the Eagles will wear their home green uniforms. And as Schefter pointed out, 15 of the last 18 Super Bowl winners wore the white jerseys in the big game.
So, who are the three Super Bowl champions that wore their main home colors in the big game over the past 18 years? The Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl 45 over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Eagles over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52 and most recently the Chiefs over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54.
Will the Eagles repeat history of Super Bowl 52 and win with the green jerseys, or will the Chiefs continue the coincidental white jersey dominance in the Super Bowl? Only time will tell.
The Eagles opened as a 1.5-point favorite over Kansas City in the big game, but it really doesn’t get more evenly matched than this.
Both teams finished with 14-3 regular season records and as the top seeds in their respective conferences. The Chiefs led the NFL in scoring with 29.2 points per game, and the Eagles were third at 28.1 PPG. Both Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts are nominees for the MVP award.
Super Bowl 57 will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Feb. 3. This will be the third Super Bowl game to be held inside the Arizona Cardinals’ home venue, joining Super Bowl 42 and Super Bowl 49.
