Washington defensive end Chase Young was helped off the field during the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers after suffering an non-contact injury and refusing to get on a cart.
Young waved the cart off and instead walked into the locker room with the help of trainers. The team quickly announced the 22-year-old has been ruled out for the rest of the game.
Things only got worse as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that initial fear is that he suffered a blown ACL.
Through eight games this season, the Ohio State product has 25 tackles, two forced fumbles and two pass deflections.
Washington is all but officially out of the playoff race at 2-6, but a Young injury would be devastating nonetheless.
