It looks like the Indianapolis Colts know which QB will lead them into the promised land, or so they hope.
The Indianapolis Colts are in need of a quarterback and are expected to fill that role with their No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. They will choose between Kentucky’s Will Levis and Florida’s Anthony Richardson, with Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud expected to be taken with the first two picks.
Kentucky’s Will Levis and Florida’s Anthony Richardson, with Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud expected to be taken with the first two picks.
That changed this week when Matt Miller of ESPN reported that the team has Levis ranked higher on their board than Richardson.
“There’s belief Bryce Young (Alabama) and C.J. Stroud (Ohio State) will be off the board by pick No. 4, but there’s also considerable chatter Indy will not trade up to secure a passer, even just one spot,” ESPN’s Matt Miller reported.
Miller noted that the team needs their QB to start right away and that is more likely to be Levis than Richardson. Miller reports that they’ll select whoever they feel is the most ready.

Both players come with major question marks, although Richardson’s athleticism and ability to run sets him apart from Levis.
The Colts have desperately been trying to find a franchise QB ever since Andrew Luck retired suddenly from the league. The team has gone through Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, and Jacoby Brissett and nothing has worked.
Rookies always need time to adjust when they transition to the NFL, so either way there will be growing to do for the quarterback selected.
Last season, Levis played 11 games for Kentucky, leading the Wildcats to a 7-4 record. He recorded 2,406 passing yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. In comparison, Richardson played 12 games for Florida last season, going 6-6, and recording 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. On 103 rushing attempts, he had 654 yards and nine touchdowns.
