The Indianapolis Colts are suspending two players for the rest of the year.
The Indianapolis Colts suspended wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie and cornerback Tony Brown for three games for “conduct detrimental to the team,” meaning they will miss the rest of the regular season.
Indianapolis placed both players on the reserve/suspended list, it said in a statement.
Suspensions by individual NFL teams is rare as most of them are handed down by the league which usually stems from violations of the personal-conduct and drug policies or violations of playing rules related to the health and safety of players.
Brown and McKenzie were both surprise healthy scratches ahead of Saturday’s 30-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This news comes at a pivotal time as the 8-6 Colts fight to hold onto a playoff spot. The Colts would be the No. 7 seed in the playoffs in the postseason started this week.
