Shaquille Leonard and the injury bug have unfortunately become intimately familiar in the last year or so and now it has cost him a spot on the team.
On Tuesday, he took to social media and tweeted a goodbye to the city of Indianapolis.
A few minutes later, it was revealed he was being waived by the Colts.
“Indy I want to thank you for accepting me and my family with open arms. These past six years have been nothing but incredible!”
With Leonard’s back problem in mind, Indianapolis reduced Leonard’s snap count a few weeks ahead of the 2023 season in an effort to gradually increase Leonard’s playing time until he was fully involved.
He complained about playing time earlier this month and now he will hope to be signed to another team.

In 2023, Leonard has appeared in nine games for the Colts and recorded 65 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and no sacks or interceptions.
He is still only 28-years-old and can make an immediate impact on the right team. Just maybe a Super Bowl contender signs him for a run for the playoffs.
