NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday morning that Russell Wilson will be using the offseason to look outside of Seattle to see what other opportunities are available. Wilson is under contract with the Seahawks for two more years and hasn’t requested a trade. This season, Seattle missed the playoffs for the second time since 2021.
Despite what previous reports stated, Wilson claimed he didn’t demand trade last offseason, but rather presented four teams he would consider waiving his no-trade clause for. Wilson said in one of his final press conferences of the season, “That’s been always my goal, to win multiple Super Bowls, and my plan is to be here and do that.”
Ian Rapoport added that the Seattle Seahawks touched base with one of those organizations at the time, the Chicago Bears. However, it’s unlikely the Bears would still be interested in a deal after drafting Justin Fields in the first round of the 2021 Draft.
“A year ago, Wilson’s agent Mark Rodgers — who did not return several calls seeking comment — made public four teams that Wilson would consider if he would get traded,” Rapoport wrote. “Wilson has a full no-trade clause in his contract, which has two years remaining.
“Ultimately, the Seahawks talked with the Bears about a blockbuster deal and declined to make any trade. While (John) Schneider has famously considered nearly every trade ever presented to him, the questions are the same as last year.”

Chicago likely is out of the running as they have Justin Fields behind center who will hopefully be getting a more competent head coach after Matt Nagy was fired.
In addition, the Seahawks are proceeding under the assumption that Wilson will be their quarterback in 2022.
Wilson missed three games in 2021 and put up 3,113 passing yards and 25 touchdowns.
