Following news of Jalen Hurts landing a record-breaking deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL insider Ian Rapoport has revealed that Lamar Jackson got a lucrative offer from the Baltimore Ravens that actually guaranteed him more money than Hurts’.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hurts got a $255 million deal with $179 million guaranteed. But Rapoport, who appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, reported that Jackson was offered $200 million in guaranteed money at some point during his negotiations with the Ravens.
Jackson continues to discuss an extension with the Ravens without an agent and it’s very likely that it’s prevented both sides from reaching an agreement that they both would be happy with.
The Ravens franchise-tagged the quarterback last month so he’s now free to speak to other teams, while Baltimore would have the opportunity to match any offer he receives. But there’s been absolutely zero traction in such regard, with certain teams even publicly removing themselves from contention mere minutes removed from the tag news dropping.
There should be some development in the Jackson story now that Hurts has become the highest-paid player in NFL history, given that the former has already won an MVP award.
The Ravens seem to be closer to terms with Jackson, having agreed to sign Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year deal.

But, as you would expect, the QB has come under heavy trolling in the wake of the Hurts deal.
