The New England Patriots have made a quarterback signing this Wednesday, changing their QB room for the second time in the last few days.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network is reporting that the team is signing former New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles signal-caller Ian Book to their practice squad. The former fourth-round pick was worked out by the team this week and apparently made a good enough impression to secure himself a deal, having also worked out with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Pats will be the QB’s third NFL team since 2021. He was drafted as the 133rd overall pick by the Saints that year after throwing for 8,948 yards and 72 interceptions at Notre Dame between 2017 and 2020.
He made one start for New Orleans in a loss to the Miami Dolphins, throwing for 135 yards and two interceptions on 12-of-20 passing. He joined the Eagles last year but did not see any action.
Book is now set to join a Patriots quarterback room featuring Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe.
Matt Corral was part of the team’s QB room ahead of Week 1 but has since been placed on the exempt/left squad list, having gone dark for personal reasons head coach Bill Belichick refused to reveal.
