The Saints and Raiders reportedly couldn’t agree on the details of a big trade.
The Saints and Raiders reportedly discussed a trade that would’ve sent veteran wide receiver Hunter Renfrow to New Orleans before Tuesday’s deadline but were unable to reach an agreement on the details of the trade, per Saints insider John Hendrix.
“The only one I thought might happen was Hunter Renfrow going to the Saints,” Ian Rapoport said Wednesday. “There was so much contractual stuff that they had to work out, who was going to pay his salary. They didn’t get it done by yesterday. In the end, it just did not end up happening.”
Renfrow could’ve reunited with his good friend and former teammate Derek Carr.
Renfrow caught 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns with Carr as his quarterback in 2021. Since Carr has left, Renfrow has struggled to find a role in the Raiders offense this season, catching just 10 passes for 92 yards in eight games. In five seasons with the Raiders, he has 254 catches for 2,721 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Renfrow is set to carry a cap hit of more than $13 million for next season.

The Raiders have since fired Josh McDaniels and benched Jimmy Garoppolo for the rest of the season. Renfrow reportedly had issues with McDaniels.
Now, Renfrow will remain in Las Vegas and the Saints will stick with their three-man rotation of Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and Rashid Shaheed.
