For a team that’s looking to improve on their 6-11 record from 2022, the Las Vegas Raiders’ front office certainly doesn’t appear to be doing the team many favors.
Their decision to move on from Derek Carr was both understandable and very much expected. However, with Darren Waller traded to the Giants and Josh Jacobs now expected to sit out after the team refused to extend him, the Raiders suddenly find themselves without three key pieces from last year’s offense…
And it could soon be four.
According to rumors circulating around the NFL, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow is in “serious jeopardy” of being released by the team before the start of the regular season.
After a career year in 2021 that saw him put up 103 receptions, 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns, the 2019 fifth-round pick dropped off big-time in year four.
Between injuries and the arrival of Davante Adams, Renfrow was seemingly phased out of the Raiders’ offense in 2022, putting up just 330 yards and two touchdowns while starting in just one of the 10 games he appeared in.

The Raiders still have Adams, and they picked up former New England Patriots wideout Jakobi Meyers in free agency. The team also added former Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer in the second round of the draft. Josh McDaniels clearly sees Renfrow as being an expendable piece of the Raiders’ offense.
If the former Clemson Tigers standout is released, I wouldn’t expect him to be available for long. Several teams make sense as possible suitors for the 27-year-old, including the Minnesota Vikings.
