Hue Jackson may have been served a raw deal by trying to get the Cleveland Browns to be a winning franchise, but after his latest comments, he probably shouldn’t be the head coach of any team ever again.
The former Cleveland Browns head coach led the Browns to being only the second team in NFL history to an 0-16 record in 2017 and a 3-36-1 overall record in two and half seasons in Cleveland.
Despite the poor record, Jackson boldly stated on radio station WFNZ on Wednesday that he believes his time with the Cleveland Browns was the “best coaching I did.”
“I learned a lot,” Jackson told Wilson and Parcell. “I think the two years of constant losing I learned how to overcome that and still get guys to follow me and trust in what I was trying to accomplish. You learn a lot about yourself that you gotta be able to stand in front of a group and keep them really going.
“I’ve said this before I think during those times [it was] probably some of the best coaching I did contrary to what people think because you’re always doing anything and everything you can to find a way to win. Whether it happens or not, that’s not up to me sometimes but I think I learned a lot being in that situation.”
After having great success as the Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator, Jackson was the hottest name during the 2016 off-season. His problem was signing on to coach the Browns, but besides the losing culture that was already there, Hue just refused to adjust his offense to fit his personnel and would just keep the same offensive concepts no matter who was on the field.
It ended up being his downfall. As you saw after his departure, the Cleveland Browns finally started to win some games and now have actual expectations for the first time in a long time.
