The Jets returned to MetLife Stadium on Saturday for the team’s third preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but something else that happened had fans shook during that contest.
With the first half winding down in the Jets-Buccaneers preseason matchup, play-by-play voice Chris Myers was in the midst of complimenting the officials on explaining why the half ended despite a penalty flag being thrown when somebody could be heard on a hot mic mentioning Howard Stern and his man region.
“Baba Booey, Baba Booey, Howard Stern’s Pen–. Baba Booey,” someone said.
I’m sure there is a reference to that maybe older NFL fans will get.
As for the game, Baker Mayfield might have won Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback job without even taking a snap in the Buccaneers’ 13-6 preseason victory over the New York Jets.
Mayfield was held out and remained on the sideline during Tampa Bay’s second preseason game as Kyle Trask got much of the work in on this night. Trask completed 20 of 28 passes for 218 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and rushed four times for seven yards.

Trask drew the start after coming in behind Baker Mayfield in the Buccaneers’ preseason opener against the Steelers, and he ultimately played much more than planned due to the neck injury suffered by John Wolford.
With both he and Mayfield having impressed to varying degrees in each of the first two preseason games, the job battle may come down to more practices as well as Saturday night’s home preseason finale versus the Ravens.
