Tough news for one incoming rookie in the NFL that will not see the field.
On Sunday, it was announced that Texans rookie wide receiver John Metchie III was diagnosed with leukemia, but he expects to make a full recovery.
It is unlikely that he will suit up and play football in 2022.
Metchie III, a second-round NFL Draft pick out of Alabama, signed a four-year $8,070,172 rookie contract that includes a $3,049,216 signing bonus.
During his three-year college career at Alabama, Metchie appeared in 39 games and caught 155 passes for 2,081 yards and 14 touchdowns.
