The Houston Texans won on Sunday, beating the Arizona Cardinals 21-6 and Nathaniel Dell was a huge part of that victory. If you’re confused by the name, it’s because he usually goes by Tank Dell.
The Houston rookie had a season-high 149 yards on eight receptions and set a franchise rookie record with his sixth touchdown catch.
After the victory, the rookie would make a big change when the league officially recognized Dell’s nickname of “Tank” as his official name.
Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Dell, whose real first name is Nathaniel, officially had his football name changed to “Tank Dell.”
“Please note that the football name of Houston’s Nathaniel Dell, WR, Houston (Player ID #55934) has been changed to Tank Dell,” said a note on the NFL’s transaction wire, via Pelissero.
The other rookie on the team, quarterback CJ Stroud threw for 336 yards with two touchdowns, and the Houston Texans overcame his season-high three interceptions on the day. Houston didn’t score after halftime and Stroud was picked off on consecutive drives in the fourth quarter.
